Coronavirus: County Rents Hotel Rooms For Recovering Patients

Westchester County booked 39 rooms at a hotel in Elmsford.

ELMSFORD, NY — Westchester County is renting rooms at the Days Inn by Wyndham in Elmsford to temporarily house people recuperating from the new coronavirus. The 39 rooms are in one building at the hotel.

People using the rented rooms will have been released from the hospital but need safe housing and care while they recover, the Journal New reported.

The county booked the rooms from the beginning of April to the end of May for $150,000. For an additional $75,000, the rentals can be extended through June.

Dutchess County created a Recovery Center in a Dutchess Community College dormitory that will be available for people with COVID-19 who are able to be discharged from the hospital but still need care while recovering from the disease before returning home.
