At the Class B track and field championship, held at Beacon H.S. on the 25th, the Sleepy Hollow Horsemen team performed well, as two girls accounted for all their points, to earn 3rd place honors, and the boys team finished in a tie for 14th place with Putnam Valley, with 14 points.

Penn-Bound Gillian Berger had a great meet, as she was 3rd in the 100, clocked at 12.80, was 2nd in the triple jump, at 35-08, and then won the Long Jump at 16-07.25, as she earned 24 points for her team, while teammate, junior Gabrielle Maldonado, had 20 points, thanks to her winning the 200, with a clocking of 26.00, followed by another victory in the 400, with a time of 56.90. The two girls accounted for all of the Sleepy Hollow points.
Boys
For the boys, Will Stalling was 22nd in 200, timed at 22.90, for third place, and the 4 x 100 quartet was 5th, to account for their 8 points.
Hackley
In the Ivy League Championship, held at Icahn Stadium on Randall’s Island on the 25th, the Hackley School had a great meet, topping Trinity, Dalton, Horace Mann, Poly Prep, and the Ethical Culture School. In the process, the boys team amassed 169 points, while the ladies had a total of 103.
The magnitude of the boys triumph is graphically illustrated by the face that they won 10 of the 18 events, and were 2nd in another 4 of them. The girls won 5 of their challenges and were 2nd in 4 more more.
Boys
Showing the way for their team were Mustafa Dais, who hit the tape to win the 100 in 11:27, while in field events, he copped the Triple Jump, as he went 43-08.50, and also took the Long Jump by going a distance of 20-10.50.
A.J. Wolf copped the Shot Put with a heave of 35-09.50, and then took the heavy with a mighty winning effort 151-02 in the Discus. Ian Parnell won the 200, in 22.37, while Dan Norris was 3rd, with his clocking of 23.47.
Parnell was 2nd in the 400, at 49,31, while Norris won the 400, in 4.83. Leadoff runner in the 4 x 100, with teammates Robert Cacace, Dais, and Elijah Ngbokoli copping the event, in 44.32.
He had finished 2nd to Dais in the 100, timed at 11:83. The 4 x 400 foursome were 2nd in their relay, clocked at 3:35.57, with Pietro Moran, Cacace, Norris, and Ian Mook also in the race. Will Johnson was 2nd in the Javelin, tossing the spear 133-00, with Mook 4th, at 129-00.
Andre Newland finished 3rd in the 110 Hurdles, clocked at 19.4 , and in the 400 Hurdles, he was 3rd, with his time of 1:03.13, while Mook's 2nd place clocking was 1:01.12. In the 800, Mook was 6th, in 2:08.35, while Pietro Moran was 4th, in 2:04.08. Joe Shalabi ended up 4th in the 3200, with a time of 10:40.81.
Girls
Ngbokoli's sister Alyza, had big stats for the lady athletes, as she won the 100 Hurdles, in 16.32, then sped to the victory in th 400, in 1:06.72. Her versatility as a track star was illustrated a she also triumphed in the Triple Jump, going 34-00.00.
She was also the 3rd leg in the 4 x 100 relay, as the quartet finished 2nd, with a time of 53.45. The other 3 runners in this one were Tessa Cavanaugh, Julia Baker, and Racciella Emanuelle. Lydia Roberts was 2nd in the 3200, clocked 12:56.46.
Arianna Lavelli was another star in the Hackley galaxy, as she won the Pole Vault, vaulting to a high of 8-00.00, and also was first in the Long Jump, at 16:00.75. Other fine results on the day came from Cavanaugh, who finished 3rd in the 100, with her time of 13:39, and then was 2nd in the 200, at 27.48.
In the Javelin, Emma Satty was 5th, at 62-02, and Isabel Hayward was 6th, at 60-3. Lavelli was 2nd in the Discus, at 74-05. Paula Stone was 3rd in the Shot Put, at 26-20.25.
