Deadline for Comments on Proposed Hudson River Barge Anchorage Sites Dec. 6
More than 8,400 comments have already been submitted.

TARRYTOWN, NY — The deadline for submitting comments on the proposed Hudson River barge anchorage sites is Tuesday, Dec. 6.
To date, more than 8,400 comments have been left.
The Coast Guard wants to establish new anchorage grounds in the Hudson River from Yonkers to Kingston.

Their argument is that the new anchorage grounds “may improve navigation safety along an extended portion of the Hudson River, which currently has not anchorage grounds.”
The anchorage sites are Kingston Flats South, Port Ewen, Big Rock Point, Milton, Roseton, Marlboro, Newburgh, Tompkins Cove, Montrose Point and Yonkers extention.

Hudson Valley officials have objected to the proposal, saying that will likely be carrying oil and would take up nearly 1,000 acres of the river.
