Deadly Shooting at Thornwood Shopping Center

Police responding to reports of a bar fight fatally shot Pace student Danroy Henry outside of Finnegan's Grill early Sunday morning.

A vigil is being held tonight at Pace University for a football player who died in a bar brawl turned violent overnight.

Mount Pleasant police are investigating the possible bar-brawl-turned-shooting as visibly shaken onlookers remain at the Thornwood Shopping Center crime scene.

The shooting took place early Sunday morning outside of Finnegan's Grill. According to police, a Pleasantville officer noticed a "group of unruly patrons" in the parking lot just after 1 a.m.

After Mount Pleasant and Pleasantville officers arrived, officers approached a car parked in the fire lane. The driver, later identified to be student Danroy "DJ" Henry, 20, by Pace University, attempted to drive away, police said.

Police said Henry struck two officers, one landing on the car's hood, before he was shot. The vehicle stopped as it hit a parked Mount Pleasant police car, police reported.

All in all two suspects and four police officers were taken to the Westchester Medical Center: Henry died, an unidentified passenger sustained a minor gunshot wound, two police are being treated for physical injuries and two police are being treated for trauma, police said.

Henry was a football player at Pace, said spokesman Christopher Corey.
