Faces and Places: Riverwalk Park at Tarrytown
Faces and Places is our weekly feature on the people of Tarrytown and Sleepy Hollow.
The Riverwalk Park at Tarrytown may be officially fenced off for further construction, but that doesn't stop area fishermen from enjoying greater access to their coveted Hudson striped bass. Knowing that fishermen always enjoy telling a good fish story, we asked some river-regulars about their biggest catches.
Tell us your story about fishing along the Hudson...

- "My story is that I didn't get anything. Nothing biting today. But I came about two weeks ago and had some good luck then, caught a 28-inch striper."
Gene Mianti, 52, of Hastings-on-Hudson; engineer
- "I grew up in Yonkers, fishing these waters for 45 years. I spent my summers in Kingsland Point Park. I was raised by my dad on the river. Over the years, I've caught amazing striped bass. Not this year. It was an escape for inner city kids, that was my story. If we weren't standing in front of a fire hydrant, we were on the river."
Dan Murphy, 51, of Croton-on-Hudson; works in environmental relocation
- "I'm a fresh water man, but drowning a worm is drowning a worm. It's a day out. Better than sitting home in front of the TV."
Keith Robinson, 40, Peekskill; works for the non-profit Council for Unity
- "I caught a 29-inch striper the same day some dude caught a 49-inch. I'm sort of a good luck charm. So far today I'm the only one who caught a keeper, but 9 times out of 10, they'll be bigger than mine. No one will be catching anything all day, and then I come along and they start getting everything."
