Greenburgh To Allow Cannabis Dispensaries
The town decided to opt out of having on-site consumption lounges.
GREENBURGH, NY — The town of Greenburgh voted to allow the retail sale of marijuana, but opted out of on-site usage establishments.
Town Supervisor Paul Feiner, who voted against allowing pot dispensaries, said he would have rather opted out and revisit allowing retail sales after more information is made available as to the state guidelines.
"NYS is moving cautiously with the rollout of guidelines for marijuana dispensaries for what clearly are myriad social, fiscal and regulatory reasons," he said.

The board's 4-1 vote for dispensaries said they will not be permitted in any residential zones or mixed-use corridors immediately and/or significantly abutting residential zoning districts. There will also be minimum linear separation required from schools, playgrounds and public parks.
Officials in towns and villages have until Dec. 31 to decide whether to allow pot dispensaries and on-site consumption lounges.
