Greenburgh Picks Interim Police Chief
The interim chief replaces Chief Chris McNerney who will be going to work for the county.
GREENBURGH, NY — The Town of Greenburgh has picked an interim police chief to replace retiring Police Chief Chris McNerney. Captain Brian J. Ryan will become the interim chief Aug. 26.
A permanent police chief will be appointed in 2020 after the administration of a civil service promotional exam.
Ryan is a 30-year veteran of the police department and has an outstanding record of experience and achievement, Supervisor Paul Feiner said in an email.

He has worked in every division of the department, with his most recent assignment as the commanding officer of the Detective Division.

The Greenburgh Police Community Advisory Commission participated in the selection process.
Ryan will be formally introduced at the Aug. 28 town board meeting.
