Gun, Drug Possession Arrest in Greenburgh

The two Bronx men are currently in custody in Westchester County Jail.

Two Bronx men were arrested on illegal gun and drug possession Dec. 11 on I-87 in Greenburgh, according to state police.

Charged were Algernon D. Martin, 19, and Vashan J. Chiddick, 22. Martin, who was driving, was pulled over for speeding just after 2 a.m. when state police found a loaded .45 caliber handgun and small quantities of cocaine and marijuana in their possession, state police said.

Martin and Chiddick were transported and processed at the state police facility in Tarrytown where they were charged with:

  • Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 2nd Degree, Class C Felony
  • Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 7th Degree, Class A Misdemeanor
  • Unlawful Possession of Marijuana, Violation

Additionally, Martin is on federal probation for Robbery in the 3rd Degree, according to state police.

Both men were arraigned before the Town of Greenburgh Court and remanded to the Westchester County Jail. Martin was remanded in lieu of $50,000 cash bail and Chiddick was remanded in lieu of $20,000 cash bail. The two are scheduled back in Court on December 18 at 9 a.m.
