The multi-day advisory is followed by an excessive heat watch.

TARRYTOWN, NY — The National Weather Service has issued a Heat Advisory for much of the lower Hudson Valley.

Especially affected are the elderly, those with chronic health problems, people working outdoors and other heat-sensitive groups of people, the NWS said.
A heat advisory means that a period of hot temperatures is expected and the combination of hot temperatures and high humidity will create a situation in which heat illnesses are possible.
People are advised to drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room and stay out of the sun.
Relatives and neighbors should be checked on and anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool, shaded location.
In case of heat stroke, call 911.
