Heat and Humidity Returning to Tarrytown, Sleepy Hollow; 90s for Days

"Hope you can take advantage," says Bill Potter of Hudson Valley Weather. "Because things begin to change on Thursday. The wind will shift back out of the southwest, and that will slowly usher in the heat and humidity. Thursday doesn’t look bad… very warm, not too humid… with highs around 90°. But Friday, Saturday, Sunday… and possibly even Monday, will likely be the hottest 3 or 4 day stretch of the summer so far. Each day should eclipse 90°, and some of the days could be well into the 90s for highs. Factor in some humidity… and this weekend looks nothing short of oppressive."

And in the midst of drought conditions, the only chance for rain over the next few days is on Friday afternoon and evening as we might—repeat might—see some thunderstorms.

Here are the details on the hot and humid forecast for southern Westchester County, via the National Weather Service:

• Today: Sunny, with a high near 83. Northeast wind around 6 mph becoming west in the afternoon.
• Tonight: Mostly clear, with a low around 62. South wind 3 to 6 mph.
• Thursday: Sunny, with a high near 87. Southwest wind 5 to 8 mph.
• Thursday Night
• Mostly clear, with a low around 68. South wind around 7 mph.
• Friday: A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2pm. Partly sunny, with a high near 91. Southwest wind 7 to 11 mph.
• Friday Night: A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly before 2am. Partly cloudy, with a low around 74.
• Saturday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 92.
• Saturday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 72.
• Sunday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 93.
• Sunday Night: A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Partly cloudy, with a low around 74.
