Hackley Girls Get Revenge at Poly

On Wednesday, the Hackley Girls' Lacrosse team walked onto the same field that ended their season last year. But this time they walked off the field having dominated a tough Poly Prep team and winning 14-8.

By halftime, Hackley had an 8-3 lead based on the incredible play of Kelly Gorman and the defense, and the stellar shooting of the offense. Poly came out tough in the second half, but Hackley stayed poised and continued their dominance.  

Though everyone played very well, Laurel Cassidy and Trish Gorman led the way for the offense with four goals each. The defense shut down Poly's top scorer with tough play by Stef Frolo, Kelly Gorman and the rest of the defense.

Sleepy Hollow Victorious

Sleepy Hollow's boys lacrosse squad came away with a big 8-2 triumph at Nanuet on April 17 according to highschoolsports.net.

L.J. Garrant registered two goals and two assists to lead Sleepy.

Jack Centra and Frank Curanaj also scored twice for the visitors with Centra adding an assist. Sleepy's Alex Laub made eight saves.

Track & Field

At the Gwynedd-Mercy Midweek meet on the 12th, Meghan McDermott (Hackley '08) of Ursinus, finished 10th of 40 runners in the women's 800, clocked at 2:27.42.

Softball

In a twin bill at Princeton on the 14th, Samantha Erosa (Hackley '09) had 1 hit, scored 1 run, and made 2 putouts and 1 assist in the 4-3 loss to Princeton. In the nightcap, a 10-1 loss, she went 0-2 and had 2 assists at 3rd base.

In another d.h. on the 15th, in a double win over the Tigers, Erosa singled with the bags filled on the 3rd, driving in 2 runs fanned once, and had 1 put out and 1 assist at 2nd base, with the final score 4-1. In the night cap, a 5-1 victory, she had 1 hit, scored a run, had 1 stolen base, and had 2 putouts and 2 assists in the game.

Golf

In an 11 team tournament at Mass-Lowell on the 15th, Rob Sorrentino (Tarrytown-Stepinac '08) tied for 9th place, with a 3 round total of 150 - +10 over par, as his Pace Setters finished 5th on the day.
