Leeper Saves 19: Tarrytown-Sleepy Hollow Daily Sports Digest, April 30

The below three posts were taken from the Sleepy Hollow Athletic Department website:

On Tuesday, April 24th, Sleepy Hollow played their first league game against Ardsley. The game was definitely the most exciting game of the season! Down by five goals, Sleepy orchestrated an amazing comeback within the last five minutes of the game.

The charge was led by Annelise Birrittella, Katherine Doyle and Marina Pantoliano. Goalie Rebecca Leeper had 19 saves on the day. The final score was 11-11.

JV Baseball

On Tuesday, April 25th the jv baseball team beat Hastings 6-3 behind Daniel Chevre who had his first start of the year. Daniel pitched five strong innings striking out 10 and only letting up 2 earned runs.

Offensively Nick Gaspare and Adam Rosenbloom each had three hits with Adam adding three RBI’s and Nick contributing three stolen bases. Next up is a game versus Martin Lither King high school on Monday the 30th at Losee Park.

Modified Boys Lax

On Tuesday, April 24th the boys’ modified lacrosse team improved to 2-1. In the best half of lacrosse of the season as of yet the boys collected 16 ground balls, took 11 shots, and controlled the tempo of the game with a 5-1 score.

The final score would be 5-3 after a fierce come back by the Bronxville attack. Dimitre Ridley made 7 stops in his second appearance in goal. Jack Wietzner led the way for the Horsemen with 2 goals and 2 assists.

Jacob Smith and Isaac Newland would each add one goal on the day. David Husselbee would cap off scoring with his first goal of the season. Harry Bogusz and Kasper Endreny led the way in transition and in the ground ball effort.

The ground ball game was dominated by our boys at home with 39 loose balls collected on the day.

Lacrosse

In a hard fought game at home with Williams, Amherst, in 2 overtimes, topped the Ephs, 10-9, as Lord Jeff goalie Lamil Harik (Hackley '08) had 6 goals against and had 8 saves in the battle.

Catalina Friscia (Hackley '08) of Drexel U. had 1 shot on goal in a game at home on the 22nd with Old Dominion, a 10-4 victory.
