The author of the letter is the supervisor for the Town of Greenburgh.

To the Editor:

The time has come for Westchester County Executive Rob Astorino to join Republican United States Senator Susan Collins and many other Republican national leaders in pledging to not vote for Donald Trump in November.

Fifty leading national security officials from past Presidential administrations including the former Secretary of Homeland Security Michael Chertoff and former CIA director Michael Hayden also were critical of Mr. Trump and claimed that Trump would be "the most reckless President in American history."

If County Executive Astorino would publicly reject Trump our County Executive's independence and his decision to put the interests of our country ahead of partisan politics would be appreciated by the people of Westchester and by independent thinkers around the state. And by acting now—he'll have a friend in the White House next year which could be good for Westchester County.
