The forum was held at the Greenburgh Library in December. The 3 part video may be of interest to those who were unable to attend
Ify Ezinwa is a resident of Elmsford. An organization she founded, Echoes Africa Initiatives, recently sponsored an important mental health seminar at the Greenburgh Library. Because the event was held during the holiday season many residents who would have liked to attend were unable to. I asked Ify to share links to this excellent seminar.
In the past 4 years, Ify Ezinwa and Echols Africa Initiatives have served members of the Greenburgh community by addressing food insecurity through a monthly food pantry at Deluca Park in Elmsford and organized conferences, summits and workshops to raise awareness and educate members of our community on mental health. They also are organizing an after school program for teenagers titled “My Story, My Power” for teenagers ages 13-17 who are interested in storytelling through video and photography.
The Mental Health workshop for children and adolescents was funded with a grant from NYS obtained by Assemblywoman Mary Jane Shimsky. They put together, a 3-part video of the workshop for members of the community because we feel the information will help you better address mental health with your children. A link is below to the videos. If you know of families who have mental health issues in their family please encourage them to watch this excellent video.
For more details about the program and ways to support, please visit their website: My Story, My Power – Echoes Africa Initiatives
