Maher Records Win: Tarrytown-Sleepy Hollow Daily Sports Digest, May 10

Sleepy Hollow softball beat Irvington on Monday, Mary 7th by a score of 16 to 5. Megan Maher pitched the win and Jamie Bucci went 4 for 4 with her third home run of the season.

Jamie also had 4 runs scored and 3 RBI’s. Jess Campbell had 4 hits including a triple – 2 runs scored and 4 RBI’s. Jenny Bucci had 3 hits including a triple – 2 runs scored and 2 RBI’s. Shaylin Best had a triple – 2 runs scored and two RBI’s. 

Modified Lax

On Tuesday, May 8th the Horsemen played host to a strong Mamaroneck team boasting their own 5-2 record. The afternoon started with a new goalie standing between the pipes for our boys.

Zack Bernstein made 15 saves in goal to preserve Sleepy Hollow’s home field record. The home team went into the half down one goal. Minutes into the third the boys in red found themselves down two but they soon would answer with a three goal run.

With a 5-5 tie late in the fourth the Horsemen would score one more for the go ahead goal with twenty seconds left. After a scuffle at the face off X the visiting tigers came up with a ground ball and a shot on goal for the tie.

The game would end 6-6. Some home team standouts were Zack Bernstein, Kevin Borden, Mike Lopez, Jacob Smith, Harry Bogusz, Kasper Endreny, Jack Weitzner, and Isaac Newland. The Horsemen suit up again Tuesday May 15th.

After beating Bowdoin in the NESCAC semi-finals, 9-7, wherein goal tender Lamia Harik (Hackley '08) had 7 goals against and 9 saves, the Lord Jeffs of Amherst bowed to Middlebury in the championship game on the 5th, 7-6, as she had 7 goals against and 5 saves.
