Moody's gives Greenburgh the highest bond rating possible -Aaa

Greenburgh maintains our Aaa bond rating! Good news for the town!

Moody’s maintained our Aaa bond rating. Moody’s announced the rating on Tuesday 9/9/2025. Among reasons: “conservative budgeting and strong fiscal oversight.” … “Towns local economy is strong”.

The Aaa bond rating is the highest rating a local government can receive from the bond rating agencies. Having the highest bond rating possible means that our borrowing costs are lower and can substantially impact the costs of larger projects.

Only about 2% of local governments in the nation have the highest bond rating possible. Our bond rating was upgraded a few times during my tenure as Town Supervisor—we’ve had the Aaa bond rating since at least 2012.
