Mother Arrested In Tarrytown After Slapping 6-Year-Old Child On Hudson Line Metro-North Train: Police

TARRYTOWN, NY — A Poughkeepsie mom was arrested after smacking her child on a train from Grand Central Terminal, according to police.

On Sunday, at approximately 9:35 p.m., at the Tarrytown Metro-North Railroad Station, MTA police officers responded to a report of a woman who witnesses said hit her child while traveling aboard train 8859 headed to Poughkeepsie.

When the train made its regularly scheduled stop at Tarrytown Station, officers spoke with a witness, a retired NYPD officer, who told them that at approximately 9:24 p.m., the woman slapped the child in the face. MTAPD officers noted that the child was bleeding from the mouth and arrested the woman, identified as 37-year-old Tatiana Lee Kraemer, who is the mother of the 6-year-old child.

Tarrytown EMS treated the child, who police say was left with a loose front tooth from the incident. The child was released to another family member who came to Tarrytown Station following the mother’s arrest.

Kraemer was charged with second-degree assault and endangering the welfare of a child.
