Motorcyclist Killed in Early Morning Accident on the Sprain

Police said good Samaritans rendered aid before EMS personnel got to the scene.

GREENBURGH, NY — Police are investigating an overnight accident on the Sprain Brook Parkway that resulted in one death.

State police from the Hawthorne barracks responded Tuesday shortly before midnight to mile post marker 5.6 for an accident involving the collision of a motorcycle and a car.

A 2008 Yamaha motocycle operated by Andre P. Lindsay, 28, of Mount Vernon, was traveling southbound on the parkway, police said.

Lindsay was traveling at a high rate of speed when he struck the rear of a southbound 2007 Honda Fit, driven by Ana Y. Mateo-Nunez, 44, of the Bronx.

Lindsay was thrown from the motorcycle and sustained serious life-threatening injuries.

Several people passing the crash site stopped to render medical aid and CPR on Lindsay until emergency medical personnel arrived.

He was taken to Westchester Medical Center by Greenburgh Police Department PD EMS and was deceased.

Mateo-Nunez was not injured.

State police were assisted by the Greenburgh Police Department EMS, FDNY EMS, Greenburgh EMS and a good Samaritan.
