MTA Cell Tower Subject Of Tarrytown Meeting

The 140-foot tower was placed near a public housing complex, something a private company could not have done because of zoning regulations.

TARRYTOWN, NY — A town-hall style meeting will be held in Tarrytown to talk about the cell tower that the Metropolitan Transportation Authority put up three weeks ago. The 140-foot tower was placed about 30 feet from a playground and near a public housing complex.

A private company could not have erected the tower at that location because local zoning would have prevented it, the Journal News said.

The town hall meeting, which is sponsored by lohud.com, will features panelists such as Tarrytown Mayor Drew Fixell, Sen. Andrea Stewart-Cousins, D-Yonkers, and Assemblyman Tom Abinanti, D-Mount Pleasant.
