MTA To Dismantle Controversial Cell Tower
Alternative sites have been discussed including one near the new Tappan Zee Bridge.

TARRYTOWN, NY — A 150-foot monopole erected next to a public housing complex in Tarrytown by the Metropolitan Transportation Authority will be taken down. At the end of a recent meeting of the MTA board, the agency said the cell tower would be taken down by March 2019.
The MTA said it was working to identify alternate sites for its law enforcement communications equipment, thehudsonindependent.com said.
At issue was the fact that the MTA would not have been able to put the tower 30 feet from a playground and near a public housing complex because of zoning rules if it had been a private company.
