After beating Croton 4-0 on May 10th the Mustangs hosted an Older Somers team at Peabody field on May 17th. The Tarrytown girls were dominant winning four nothing with two goals from Talia Fante and one from Sam Livingston and Caroline Grimes. The Mustangs next had a rematch with Croton at Pocantico field on May 31st.. The result was similar with a six-nothing win and two goals from Maya Weitzen, and one goal each from Samantha Nutig, Talia Fante, Catherine Grimes, and Maddy Navin. Talia Fante, and Samantha Nutig each earned an assist as well. This gave the stingy Mustang defense led by Maddy Navin, Annie Dineen, Sadie Swenson, Catherine Grimes, Carolina Lopez, and Julia Costa 5 straight shutout games.
On June 7th the Mustangs took on their main rival Mt Pleasant. The Mustangs had lost to the wildcats 4 weeks earlier when a tying penalty kick was denied by a controversial off sides call. That game was played in the cold rain which the Tarrytown girls have historically struggled. This game was in perfect conditions at Peabody field and the Mustangs started strong scoring first. Samantha Nutig's shot bounced off the Wildcat keeper setting up Maya Weitzen for the easy score. Samantha Nutig then earned her second assist passing to Talia Fante who put the Mustangs up 2-0. The Wildcats then scored on a breakaway goal but Carolina Lopez answered after getting an assist from Catherine Grimes. Mt Pleasant scored again keeping the game close until Emma Clarke passed to Sophie Sylves-Berry for the fourth score and securing the Mustang, 4-2 victory.

After handling Mt Pleasant the Mustangs were clearly the best under age 11 team in the area. They were tied with the under age 12 Dominators also from Tarrytown for first place in the area and were slated to play them on June 7th for the DE FACT O area championship. The last time the teams played they finished in a 0-0 tie with the Mustangs being robbed a goal that passed through a hole in the net that was called a miss. This time the older, faster, stronger Dominators left no doubt beating the younger Mustangs 3-0 at Pocantico field. The Dominators were too much for the Mustangs that day and ended the year with only one loss in league play and a well earned league championship.

After licking their wounds against the Dominators, the Mustangs competed in their third Wizard of Ossining tournament last Saturday. In the two previous years they played well but never won their division. This year they started against a level 3-club team Somers who they had never beaten in a tournament. In the second half Maya Weitzen received a beautiful cross from Talia Fante putting the Mustangs up 1-0. With 30 seconds left in the game the Lady Cougars had a break away shot on goal. Julia Costa made an incredible save sealing the Mustang Victory. In game two the Mustangs faced rival Mt Pleasant. The Mustangs had a record of 2 wins, 3 losses, and 3 ties lifetime against the Wildcats. On Saturday the Mustangs were dominant, winning 4-1 with 2 goals from Maya Weitzen, 1 goal from Samantha Nutig, and one goal from Caroline Grimes. Taylor Macca was instrumental in setting up most of the goals. The Wildcat lone goal came off a penalty shot from a handball in the box. The Mustangs had already clinched their division but still had one game left against host Ossining. In a lackluster effort the Mustangs tied Ossining 0-0. This game was a warm up for the championship game against those same Ossining Rockets. Again Ossining played tough but late in the game Maya Weitzen crossed to Talia Fante for the winning score. This gave the Mustangs their first Wizard of Oss Tournament win and momentum for the national games in California. The Mustangs leave this Saturday and will be competing against teams a year older than them from all over the country. Taylor Macca and Lena Swenson have joined the Mustangs for the tournament to give them needed firepower against the older competition. The girls would like to thank the community for helping them raise nearly $10,000 for the trip. Their first match game will be on Thursday July 3rd. The Mustangs finish the 2013-2014 AYSO season 15-2-3.
