New Court Date For School Secretary Accused Of Stealing From District

Authorities said she stole more than $10,000 from the school district.

SLEEPY HOLLOW, NY — The school secretary who was accused of stealing from the Sleepy Hollow Middle School had her next court appearance rescheduled. Carol Ressa will return to court July 17. She was in court Monday when the appearance date was changed, News 12 said.

Ressa was charged Wednesday with third-degree grand larceny as a public corruption crime and third-degree grand larceny, felonies.

Authorities said she allegedly stole more than $10,000 from the school district over a period from October 2011 to March 2017.

The money was from class trips, yearbooks and school lunches. It is alleged she deposited the stolen funds into her own personal bank accounts.

She faces a minimum of one to three years to a maximum of five to 15 years in state prison.
