NYSP Conducts Speed Enforcement Detail In Greenburgh

The effort saw almost 40 tickets issued to drivers, police said.

GREENBURGH, NY — A speed enforcement detail in the town of Greenburgh issued more than three dozen tickets.

The New York State Police said the speed enforcement detail Tuesday was on the Sprain Brook Parkway in Greenburgh.

Police said the operation saw a total of 38 tickets issued, 25 of which were for speed-related offenses.

Speeding is listed as a contributing factor in nearly one-third of all fatal crashes in New York State, police said. According to the Institute for Traffic Safety Management and Research at the University at Albany, in 2017, 301 people were killed and 18,178 were injured in the state in speed-related crashes. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reports that traffic crashes are the leading cause of death for people ages 3 to 33.
