Painter's Eye, Camera's Lens: A Competition for Photographers

Rivertown Painter Ronnie Levine will paint one of your photos submitted to the site.

Did you ever wonder whether your photos would make good paintings?

About Town/Arts columnist Ronnie Levine will give one photographer the chance to transform their picture into a painting.

Simply attach your favorite photo into this article by March 1 and Ronnie will select the one she thinks is most appropriate for painting (feel free to 'vote' for your favorite in the comment section). Ronnie will then develop it in a Stages of a Painting series that will appear on Tarrytown Patch.

The winning entry will have a touch of poetry in addition to documenting a moment and a place.  It may show, even subtly, a knowledge of great traditional paintings by masters such as, but not at all limited to, Hopper or Monet.

The images you send should be clear enough to enable Ronnie to make a working reference print on 8.5 by 11 inch paper.   The winning entrant will receive a print reproduction, (made and signed by Ronnie) on 8.5 by 11 inch photo paper, of the finished painting.

The photographer will always be credited as having won the competition that provided the photograph on which the painting is based whenever the painting is exhibited.
