"This is an important day to truly reflect on how far we have come in such a short time and to celebrate a bright, successful and life-saving future," she said.

At the afternoon event, there will be food trucks, vendors and a yard sale. Music will be provided by 107.1 The Peak radio until 3 p.m., after which singer, songwriter and guitarist Jack Grace will entertain.

There will be a variety of activities for young animal rescuers, organizers said, including junior volunteer lessons, contests, painting classes and a chance to read to Chickpea, a therapy dog that is part of the Paws Crossed's "Reading to Rover" program.

Members of the Greenburgh Police Department will be on hand demonstrating their robot/hydraulic rescue equipment at noon.

An alumni table will be set up for past adopters to come with their Paws Crossed family members, and of course, there will be lots of animals up for adoption.
