UPDATE: Police and Fire Respond to Oil Leak in Sleepy Hollow
A heating oil tank apparently overflowed.

SLEEPY HOLLOW, NY — Fire and police departments spent the afternoon on the Hudson River responding to an oil leak.
During the emergency, MTA officials said, Metro-North trains operated at 30 mph in that area, on account of police and fire personnel there.
The cause apparently was that someone overfilled an oil tank, which caused an overflow of about 700 gallons. It went into the storm drain going into the Hudson River, leaving behind a heavy odor of diesel at Kendal on Hudson.

According to Kempter's Fire Wire, the tank leveling system was malfunctioning; not only did it indicate fuel was needed but the oil overflow alarm never sounded.
In addition to Sleepy Hollow and Irvington first responders, among the communities responding were Ossining and Yorktown, with large exhaust fans, according to commenters on Kempter's Fire Wire. Tarrytown was on standby in Sleepy Hollow. The Westchester Health Department was also on the scene. Notification has been made to NYS DEC and USCG (National Response Center).
