Possible Getaway Vehicle Located at SHHS

The van was identified as the one involved in an attempted armed robbery in Sleepy Hollow on Friday morning

The van possibly used as the getaway vehicle in a failed armed robbery has been found abandoned at Sleepy Hollow High School.

The van, a white Ford Econoline Sherrod with side decals and the New York license plate number DRE-8002, was located by Sleepy Hollow Police Officer Dougherty this morning while on routine patrol.

Police are not releasing much information, but confirmed it was likely the getaway vehicle used on Friday morning after a male, armed with a silver handgun, tried to force his way into the Samaras Check Cashing business located at 175 Valley Street. You can read the full story here.

A local runner, Benjamin Cheever, ran by the scene Saturday morning and witnessed numerous police officers investigating, along with two trucks – at least one of them a towing vehicle.

"There were at least a half a dozen police officers there," Cheever said. "Clearly this was a big deal."
