Prison For Woman Whole Stole From Tarrytown Employer
She was also required to pay restitution to her former employer and an insurance company.

TARRYTOWN, NY — A Westchester woman who pleaded guilty to stealing from her employee was sentenced Thursday. Westchester County District Attorney Anthony A. Scarpino Jr. said that Theresa Casey, 59, of Yonkers, will be spending two to six years in state prison.
Casey admitted her guilt in court June 6 to stealing almost $250,000 from the Allan M. Block Agency, a Tarrytown company where she was employed.
She pleaded guilty to second-degree grand larceny, a felony.

Casey was also required to pay restitution in the amount of $96,535.70 to the Allan M. Block Agency and $150,216.41 to The Hartford, which had previously reimbursed the agency for part of its loss.
Scarpino said that Casey worked in the payroll department as a bookkeeper for the agency, which provides life insurance, homeowner's insurance and insurance for businesses.

She was in charge of payroll for the company, and as part of her responsibilities, she managed payments to insurance agents, who were paid on commission.
In reviewing commission payment records, the company's owners found irregularities.
They determined that Casey had been improperly paying herself as a commissioned employee in addition to her regular salary from May 2014 to February 2017.
Block's owners reported the theft to the Tarrytown police, saying that Casey stole at total of $246,752.11.
