TARRYTOWN, NY — It looks like rain is ready to make its return to the Hudson Valley just in time for this weekend.
We’ve reached the point where we can really say “we need the rain” as most of the state is in the midst of a severe rainfall shortage.
It’s not going to be a complete washout of a weekend, but we’re looking at the potential for a good soaking rain later this weekend.

If you have outdoor plans Saturday definitely is the better of the two days. It’s likely that the heaviest rain will fall Sunday night; however, showers and thunderstorms are possible during the day on Sunday, too.
Temps over the next seven days will also remain warm in the 70s and even the 80s.

Here is the updated National Weather Service forecast for southern Westchester:
- Today: Sunny, with a high near 74. Southeast wind 5 to 7 mph.
- Tonight: Mostly clear, with a low around 56. Light east wind.
- Saturday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 77. Light and variable wind becoming south 5 to 8 mph in the morning.
- Saturday Night: A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 66. South wind 5 to 7 mph.
- Sunday: A 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Cloudy, with a high near 80. Southwest wind around 6 mph.
- Sunday Night: Showers likely. Cloudy, with a low around 67. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New precipitation amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible.
