Author of House Medicare for All bill, Pramila Jayapal, backs Mondaire Jones for Congress in NY-17

SLEEPY HOLLOW, NY — Representative Pramila Jayapal today endorsed NY-17 Democratic Congressional Candidate Mondaire Jones, emphasizing his progressive advocacy and dedication to working families in her endorsement.
"In this time of crisis, Congress needs progressive leaders like Mondaire Jones more than ever. Mondaire is a bold advocate for working people and for health care who understands the struggles that working families face," said Rep. Pramila Jayapal, Co-Chair of the Congressional Progressive Caucus, "I am proud to endorse his campaign and I am excited to fight alongside him in Congress."
“I’m so honored to be endorsed by Rep. Jayapal, a progressive leader in Congress who has not only made history and broken down barriers, but has also fought for the big, structural change we so desperately need in this country,” said NY-17 Democratic Congressional Candidate Mondaire Jones. “Amidst a global health crisis, it’s clear that we need Medicare for All now more than ever, which is why I'm eager to sign onto Rep. Jayapal’s Medicare for All Act when elected to Congress. We both know this country hasn’t worked for working people and I can’t wait to work alongside her to enact bold progressive change.”
Mondaire Jones has also been endorsed by U.S. Senator Elizabeth Warren, Rep. Ayanna Pressley, Rep. Mark Pocan, Rep. David Cicilline, the Congressional Progressive Caucus PAC, Equality PAC, NY Working Families Party, United Auto Workers, Hispanic Democrats of Westchester, the Progressive Change Campaign Committee, Democracy for America, The LGBT Victory Fund, The Collective PAC, and more than 40 elected officials and community leaders in Rockland and Westchester Counties. He recently announced that his campaign had raised over $827,000 by the end of the first quarter of 2020. Unlike many of his opponents, Jones is not accepting corporate PAC money in his campaign and has also signed the No Fossil Fuel Pledge. When elected, Mondaire will make U.S. history as the first openly gay, black member of Congress.
