Revised Reassessment Phase-In Application Posted for Greenburgh Homeowners

There were some errors on the original application and some said it was "onerous."

GREENBURGH, NY — A new, revised application for the Town of Greenburgh reassessment phase-in has been posted on the town’s website.

Supervisor Paul Feiner said the original application which was posted Friday was thought to be too complicated and there were some minor errors in it.

“Thanks to the input of our residents, we modified the form and made it much easier,” he said.

Feiner said Councilman Francis Sheehan and Town Assessor Edye McCarthy went to Town Hall Sunday afternoon and spent hours revising the form.

“The new application should not take as long to complete and removes some steps,” Feiner said.

The phase-in law applies only to homeowners whose assessment will increase more than 25 percent and who qualify for STAR by earning less than $500,000 a year.

Only homes without building violations can benefit from the phase in. Residents who apply could be subject to an interior inspection.

September 15 is the deadline for completing the application.
