In the true spirit that the JV baseball team showed all year, trailing 8-3 going into the bottom of the seventh inning, the Hornets rallied for six runs! In a total team effort the team closed out the season with a very exciting 9-8 victory over non-league opponent Scarsdale.
Great pitching from George Santangelo through the first 4 innings, Andrew Stopera held down Scarsdale for two innings and finally Gabe Pinkus came in to pick up the victory.
Ilan Gressel had a two run double in the seventh before Brandon Difalco drew a walk to tie the game....and then, the moment of truth, with men on second and third and one out Andrew Scherl lined a base hit into leftfield for a great win to end the 2012 season on DelMoro field.
Rosario Homers
Sleepy Hollow's Melissa Rosario homered in its 6-1 loss at Dobbs Ferry on May 16 according to Rob Cristino's post on the LoHud Softball Blog.
Cristino also reported on the blog that on the same day Hackley lost at Rye Country Day 11-0.
Baseball
Sleepy Hollow lost at Ardsley 1-0 in nine innings and Hackley lost at Collegiate 3-2 on May 14 as per Vincent Mercogliano's post on the LoHud Baseball Blog.
