Her mother has set up a fundraiser account to offset expenses.
SLEEPY HOLLOW, NY — A Sleepy Hollow resident is hoping to raise money to make certain her daughter can compete in the Olympics in Rio de Janeiro in August.
An email from the village clerk said Lakia Perkins has set up a GoFundMe account to ask for the community’s support.
Perkins’ daughter—Deajah Stevens, 21—qualified for the Olympics by finishing second in the women’s 200 at the Olympic Trials which were held at her school, the University of Oregon.
