2009 Red Fury

Coach Katie McMahon's girls 2009 Red Fury continued their winning streak with a 2-1 win over Scarsdale Lazio. Amazing goal tending by both Kate Masters and Sirat Sanyal. The first goal was scored by Rose Ritz in the first half, followed by a beautiful game winning goal by Rachel Richardson with only 5 seconds left in the game. The Red Fury next play against Westside Red Bulls at Losee Park at 4:15 on Sunday.

2008 Red Comets

The Red Comets under Coach Joe Block and Sven Armster dropped their first game of the season to the Pleasantville Wildings and fell to a record of 2-1. The Red Comets led going into the second half 1-0 off a great score by Sam Marvin. Marvin answered the call of her coaches to the team to go out strong and score first. Abby Maceyak kept the Wildings scoreless for the first half with a few great saves. The second half, the Wildings outplayed the Red Comets and scored 3 unanswered goals in the second half to lose 3-1. The next game, the Red Comets play the Eastchester Leopards.

2008 River Sharks

The River Sharks hosted The Rye Red Rebels at Losee Park on a very hot & humid Sunday afternoon. The early part of the game saw some opportunities at both ends but goalie Thaddeus Kromelis was swift off his line on a number of occasions to keep his goal intact and was ably assisted by his defense of Luca Dominguez, Henry Warden and Timmy Engelman. The breakthrough finally came when Sean Mackiewicz crossed from the right and Abraham Achkar finished with a shot from 10 yards out. Plenty of ground was covered by the midfielders of Gilbert Onwe, Jack Uyaguari and Alessandro Soto. Just before halftime Abraham Achkar scored his second and the River Sharks went into the half leading 2-0. Following words of encouragement from Coach Ed Greenberg, Coach Michael Glynn & Coach Gerardo Soto the River Sharks quickly extended the lead at the start of the second half with goals from Dhary Suqui, Keaton Greenberg and Eoghan Glynn who worked the offensive line with terrific passing and position. Although Ale Soto stopped several onslaughts as goaltender in the second half, The Red Rebels pulled one back. Jayden Perez completed the scoring for The River Sharks to end the game 7-1 in favor of The River Sharks.

2008 Boys Fusion

In another cohesive team effort under the scorching sun, Fusion traveled to Lewisboro this week, besting the John Jay Cougars 6-2 to raise their record to 3-0.

Julian Patino scored his first of the season, assisted by Kieran Degen at minute 5'. Degen, Patino, and Aiden Lee overwhelmed the Cougars from the outset with a fast-paced offense which set the tone for the half. Jack Zhunio converted a corner kick in the air on a wicked cross from Justin Paute. Later, Dylan Pasato scored his first of the season, finishing a rebound when Pierce Davis' shot hit the crossbar. A few minutes later, Davis scored Fusion's fourth goal, and his fourth of the season, booting in a long ball from a distance. Ian Papadopoulos scored before halftime, thanks to an assist from Dylan Largo and an effective takeaway from Edwin Dutan. Dominant defensive play by Raul Socoualaya and Dutan kept the Cougars away from Fusion's goal for much of the first half.

In the second half, the Cougars put two on the board, to avoid the shutout. Fusion's goalkeeping by Davis, Largo, Pasato and Patino kept additional shots away and secured the victory.The team, coached by George Papadopoulos, returns home to Losee Field to play the Rivertowns Asteroids on October 1.

2007 Girls Blaze

The U11 Blaze Girls, coached by John Sutherland, Annette O’Hanlon and Chris Junge, played hard on Sunday as they faced the QuickStrike Patriots.

With more coordination and excellent passing, the Blaze stood strong against the well-matched Patriots. Early in the game, keeper Emily Aridas made a critical save, redirecting the ball with a touch of her finger tips. Julissa Casiano comfortably covered the field and with some quick thinking, landed a goal in the first half.

In the second half, Gemma Fante and Lizzie Molina delivered a great assist to Zoey Murphy who scored the second goal. The Patriots had several thwarted attempts. Julissa placed the final goal, with an assist from Meghan O'Hanlon and the Blaze brought home the win, with a 3-0 final score.

Division 1 is a more physical endeavor and the Blaze girls have stepped up. They showed a very strong passing game and coordinated several attempts on goal. Next up: Sunday the Blaze will face the Castleford Lions.

2006 Girls Storm

The Storm defeated the White Plains Black 5-2 in a match that featured goals by five different Storm players. Emily Clayton had the lone Storm goal of the 1st Half when she netted a rebound off an Emily Orellana shot. With the score tied at 1-1 White Plains opened the 2nd Half with several strong shots on goal that were denied by Anastasia Mazon. “Amazing goaltending,” said coach Tom Andruss after the game. The Storm took the lead on an Orellana shot that redirected off a defender into the net. Samantha Fajardo, Sadie Diaz and Eva Bertiz added goals in quick succession to put the game away. All of the scores came on great offensive pursuit that overwhelmed the White Plains goalie.

The Storm play the first place Quickstrike Patriots at home next Sunday.

2006 Boys Warriors and Firebolts

The Sleepy Hollow Football Club has the good fortune of having two talented teams in the 2006 boys age group. The SHFC Warriors and SHFC Firebolts met this past Sunday at Hackley Field and took part in a very hard fought match. 90 degrees and sunny didn't slow the boys down as both sides gave it their all. The Warriors were able to get by the Fire Bolts 3-1 in a very exciting back and forth game that was tightly contested until the final whistle.

2005 Boys Red Devils

The 2005 Tarrytown Red Devils hosted the visiting Rye Bulls at Dobbs Ferry Elementary School. The Red Devils had a strong start and bested the Bulls by a score of 7-2, bringing their record to 3-0. Aiden Smith and Justin Robles each had a hat trick, scoring 3 goals each. Christopher Panjon contributed the seventh goal.

2005 Boys Legends

The Legends played twice on the weekend – starting with the first round of the Westchester cup with a close defeat, 3-2 to Greenwich, on a hot Saturday afternoon. On an even hotter Sunday the boys played terrifically against Briarcliff, recording over 400 passes and running our 7-1 winners. All the boys played great with Randall and Robert marshalling the defense, Nikhil, Kenneth and Julien each scoring twice, and Kieran completing a beautiful team move by laying on a cross for Luke who smacked home his opening Legends goal.

2004 Boys River Titans

The River Titans played home Sunday against The West Side Red Bull's. The Red Bull's scored first in the first half. The Titans answered with goal soon after. The Titans energy and skill maintained the play and shots against the visiting Red Bull team throughout the rest of the game. Although The Titans maintained the tempo and peppered the Red Bull goalie with shots, the Red Bull team had the winning shot late in the second half.

The Titans played well and never gave up. The Titans are Coached by Scott Burnett and Pepe Monteforte.

2002 Girls Mustangs

The Mustangs were hoping for an upset against top ranked Harrison, but the defending champions dispatched our local girls with ease, leaving no doubts. The Mustangs started strong fending off attacks by the fast and talented Hornets and producing scoring opportunities of their own. Harrison scored first off a miss-hit pass to the keeper that was intercepted and put in the net. The Mustangs regrouped and held strong till half time but used up significant energy trying to contain the aggressive visitors. In the second half the girls were without both regular keepers. Intense heat caused fatigue to set in and the game quickly got out of hand as the Mustangs succumbed 0-6. The girls will get one more chance against Harrison in November but are realistically playing for second place. Next week the Mustangs hope to rebound against a tough Pelham team.
