2009 Red Fury

Another great game for coach Katie McMahon's girls 2009 Red Fury. The girls defeated the Rye Brook Rockets 4-1 at home. Excellent goaltending by both Maeve Yox and Erin Arnegger. After a quiet first half the first two goals were scored by Maeve Yox with assists from Sofia Cruz and Rachel Richardson. Then two more goals were scored by Rose Ritz with assists from Meghan McMahon and Maiyumi Marcus-Kanesaka. The Red Fury next play against Scarsdale Lazio at Losee Park at 3:45 on Sunday.

2008 Red Comets

The Red Comets overwhelmed their opponent, the Portchester Cheetahs scoring 6 goals in the first 10 minutes. Corina Armster, Libby Block, Sam Marvin, Abby Maceyak each scored a goal with Abby Church scoring twice. For the sake of parity, the coaches agreed to call the game a win for the Red Comets at this juncture and then mixed up the teams for a fun scrimmage for the remainder of the match.

2008 River Sharks

Week 2 saw the River Sharks travel to Rockland to take on East Ramapo Real S.V. After a sluggish first half and despite the best efforts of Thaddeus Kromelis in goals and of Luca Dominguez and Henry Warden in defense the River Sharks went in 3-1 down at half time. The River Shark goal coming when Jayden Perez was taken down for a penalty kick by the last defender while chasing a through ball. Josh Ortiz converted the spot kick. At half time Coach Ed Greenberg made some changes to line up with Alesandro Soto going into goals, Jack Uyaguari dropping back to defense and Timmy Engleman coming into midfield. Early in the second half the moves paid off with Abraham Achkar scoring on an assist by Jayden Perez. Despite the never ending chasing and creating of opportunities by the offense which also included Sean Mackiewicz, Keaton Greenberg and Eoghan Glynn, the River Sharks could not get that crucial goal to tie the game. Despite giving their best effort in the second half the River Sharks lost on the final score line of 3-2 on a very hot and humid afternoon.

2008 Fusion

2008 Boys Fusion improved to 2-0 with a decisive victory over the New Rochelle Tornadoes, final score 6-3. Pierce Davis scored twice in the first 10 minutes with assists each from Raul Socualaya and Edwin Dutan. A few minutes later, Kieran Degen scored on an assist from Justin Paute in a great defensive effort. Later in the first half, Socualaya scored on a breakaway, thanks to an assist from Julian Patino. Aiden Lee scored a few minutes later on his own breakaway goal. Two powerful playmakers in the first half were Jezrael Panama in the midfield and Dylan Pasato on defense. Ian Papadopoulos, Fusion's goalie in the first half, saw little pressure from a New Rochelle team who was simply outrun. The second half saw Davis complete a hat trick on an assist from Dylan Largo. New Rochelle was able to put up three goals in the game's final minutes, but Fusion's cohesive team play and dominant defense enabled them to clinch the victory.

2007 Girls Blaze

The Blaze had another strong showing as they beat a well-coordinated West Side Red Bulls 2 - 1. Playing in upper Manhattan, the Blaze took advantage of a noticeable pitch in the field in the first half. Pressing hard on offense the Blaze scored 2 goals in the first half with particularly strong performances by Gemma, Julissa and Lizzy. Fighting against the pitch in the second half, the Blaze defense led by Kayla and Gabby, and well protected in net by Emily, held off several speedy attacks from the Red Bulls. Coach Sutherland’s Blaze face the Quickstrike Patriots this Sunday at 3:15 at Hackley.

2006 Girls Storm

The Storm lost to the Mahopac Strikers 3-1.

The teams were evenly matched and the Storm would regret its inability to score on several opportunities in the 1st Half. Mahopac took advantage and broke through the Storm defense in the 28th minute to take the lead.

Mahopac added two goals in the 2nd Half on transition plays that caught the Storm too far up field. The Storm narrowed the lead to 3-1 on Ashley Richardson’s strike from 10 yards. With ten minutes remaining the Storm continued to push forward, but were unable to get through the packed-in Mahopac defense.

The Storm play White Plains at home next Sunday.

2005 Red Devils

The Red Devils traveled to New Rochelle to play their 2nd game against the NR Hammers early in the morning. Following a fantastic first half and very strong offense the Red Devils finish the first half 6 – 0. For the second half with some rotations the Hammers had a chance to score 3 goals and the Red Devils 2 for a final score of Red Devils 8 hammers 3.

2005 Boys Legends

After a slow start, the Legends scored 3 nice 2nd half goals against Scarsdale, with Nikhil Weltig scoring two and Alex Correia knocking in his debut Legends goal. The slow start though had meant that Scarsdale had scored 5, and while Scarsdale nerves were jangling they did run out deserved winners. All the boys played well and the team is starting to gel nicely. Next weekend we host Briarcliff at WI.

2004 Boys River Titans

The River Titans B-04 team played away Sunday at New Rochelle against the #1 placed team in our division.

The action was immediate and constant throughout the game. The Titans played with eleven players, without the benefit of a substitution on a very hot day. The River Titans battled hard and remain undefeated with tie . The final score of 2-2 doesn't truly reflect The Titans control , possession and dominance during this game.

The River Titans are Kyan, Julian, Zach, Jason, Andres, Henry, Pablo, Mathew, Maximos, Oliver, Carlo, Javier, Coach Scott Burnett, Coach Pepe Monteforte.

The River Titans U14b moved up a division the last two seasons. The Titans also finished first with sportsmanship last season which made their spring perfect record a much bigger accomplishment!

GO TITANS!!

2002 Girls Mustangs

The Mustangs earned a dominating 6-0 win in their home opener against Mahopac. Sophia Khosrowshahi led scorers with two explosive strikes, one created off a breakaway, and one off a Carolina Lopez thru ball. Next Maya Weitzen caused an own goal with a perfectly placed corner kick. Abigail Oppenheim made the fourth score with finesse followed by Juliana Largess who scored the fifth in her spring debut. Talia Fante finished the onslaught with a penalty kicked earned by Julia Costa, who forced a Mahopac hand ball. The Mustang defense of Annie Dineen, Sophie Sylves-Berry, Emma Clarke, Arianna Vizcaino, and keepers Julia Costa, Carolina Lopez, Maya Weitzen, and Isabella Chambers, have not allowed a score this season. Britany Alban controlled the game from midfield and Evelin Chacha provided pressure from the wing. Overall 274 passes were recorded setting a team record. This win sets up a Sunday noon showdown as the girls prepare to pull off an upset against the two-time first division champions Harrison at Washington Irving field.
