The Blaze defeated the John Jay Extreme from South Salem 6-0 to improve to 8-0-1 on the season.

Game captain Ellie Fox played aggressively and helped push the offense forward in the 1st half as the team scored five goals. Elsa Block earned her first goal of the season with a great effort up the middle. Zoey Murphy and Julissa Casiano followed with two goals each. The score reflected the constant pressure the Blaze placed on the John Jay defense.

Juliana Marvin capped the scoring with a breakaway at the start of the 2nd Half.

The team is looking forward to a busy weekend with a tournament on Saturday and rematch versus Rye Havoc on Sunday. The Blaze beat the Havoc 1-0 earlier this season.

U10 Girls – Magic

The SHFC Magic fell to the Greenburgh Utd Storm by the score 3-1 at Dows Lane Field in Irvington. Co-captains #7 Sasha Grose and #4 Christine Kern led the Magic and also served as goalies for the day. The Storm got off to a quick start with a sharp goal past Christine Kern in the opening minutes. After that the play in the first half was competitive and even, with both sides showing flashes of offense. However, the Magic were unable to convert some good runs by #3 Emily Orellana and #12 Natalie Rypka and the contest went into the break at 1-nil. Again, the Storm came out fast in the second period with aggressive moves past the Magic defense and another solid shot past Magic goalie Sasha Grose. However, the Magic answered this time with a breakaway score by #14 Anastasia Mazon to close the gap to 2-1. Late in the game the Magic had two more breakaways by #10 Nicolette Cioffi and Anastasia Mazon, but both chances were turned away by the Storm defense. A final score by the Storm finished the game at 3-1. Next week the Magic travel to Somers on Saturday for a tournament followed by the last game of the season at the New York Rush Patriots on Sunday.

U10 Boys – Warriors

The U10B Warriors lost 3-2 in an exciting last game against FC Transylvania Barca. The first half ended 0-0 with the formidable defensive trio of Sebastian Hernandez, Luke Weidner and Hugo Jercinovic holding the Barca advance. Luke Wuerffel held center mid well and John Arnegger did some great runs up the left wing and had some nice crosses in but the Warriors couldn’t convert. The second half started badly with Barca going up 3-0 in short succession. Then the Warriors started to stabilize; Randal Nurga made a left wing cross into Declan McCarthy and Leo Jercinovic who both got a foot to the ball to make it 3-1. Very quickly Callum Gallagher made it 3-2 with a shot into top right corner. Momentum was with them, and with seconds to go the Warriors were pressing hard but couldn’t quite get a third. The Warriors finished their league season with a respectable 4-3-2 and head up to Somers next Saturday for a tournament.

U11 Girls – Cyclones

On Sunday, the U11 Girls Cyclones got back on the winning track with a 5-0 victory against the Edgemont Sparks. Despite the score, it was very competitive for much of game. Some key defensive plays and saves by Lauren Koch kept the Cyclones in the game before we scored many of our goals. The goals were scored by Isabelle Murphy (2), Thalia Tsilibes (2) and Diana Cordero.

The Cyclones have a very active upcoming weekend to close out the season. The Cyclones will play in the Somers AYSO Fall Classic on Saturday and against the Mt Pleasant Gunners on Sunday to close out the fall season.

U11 Boys – Legends

U9 Boys Legends scored early but then conceded from a corner and were tied 1-1 at half time. The second half brought better control and better finishing and they ran out 5-1 winners. Highlights were Kieran’s controlled passing out of defense, Tito’s sharp finish for his first goal of the season, and a 5 pass play from Adrian to Kyan to Nikhil to Javier who crossed from the end line to Julian who volleyed home. The team is also signed up for Chelsea Piers CT for the winter and won their first game 7-4 on Saturday.

U12 Boys – River Titans

The River Titans played their last game of the season at home against The Harrison Eagles, winning 4-2! Each Titan revealed themselves to be not only capable, but determined to end this fall with a win! The River Titans finished this season #1 in their division!!! GO TITANS!!!

U13 Girls – Mustangs

On Saturday the u13 girls Mustangs started their winter indoor season at Chelsea Piers CT. The best girls from Tarrytown went against the best players from Westchester as they faced the FC Westchester premier team. The county all-stars lived up to their billing and put on a clinic of skill, spacing, and tactics. Despite goals from Britany Alban and Julia Costa the Mustangs fell 10-2.

On Sunday the girls resumed outdoor division 3 travel play defeating Pelham 3-0 off goals from Maddy Navin, Talia Fante, and Britany Alban. Caroline Grimes had an assist. The Mustang defense of Annie Dineen, Maddy Navin, Emma Clarke, Sam Livingston, and keeper Carolina Lopez earned their 6th shutout of the season and continue to lead the league with only 3 goals allowed. The offense also is on top with 23 goals scored. With this win and help from Greenburgh and Rye Brook, the Mustangs climbed back into first place and will be playing for the division 3 championship next week vs Greenburgh at Hackley field at 3:15 pm.

U14 Girls – Horsemen

The Rye Rattlers came into last Sunday’s match with the SHFC U14G Horsemen riding a five game winning streak and in first place in the division and left on the wrong side of a 3-0 result and in second place. The Horsemen carried play for long stretches of the first half and were finally rewarded for their efforts when Grace Morgan scored at the stroke of halftime.

The second half was more of the same and eventually the Rattler defense yielded two goals. After some fine link up play Bailey Zednik fired home from close range and the game’s final goal was scored by MacKenzie Horecky.

The Horsemen close out their fall schedule at home against the South Bronx United Shooting Stars this coming Sunday at 11:30am.
