Sleepy Hollow Football Prepares for Tryouts as Week 4 was a success on the field.

Week 4 was another success with 9 wins, 5 losses, and 3 ties. There was beautiful cool weather and all 17 teams saw action. This Saturday SHFC club tryouts begin for most teams for the 2017-2018 season starting with children born in 2009. SHFC is a member of Rivertowns United and AYSO Tarrytown but has separate tryouts, teams, and coaches. Please check this link below for tryout information:

2008 Girls Red Comets

Coached by Sven Armster and Joe Block led their team to a 6-1 victory at Home over the Yonkers Phoenix. The Yonkers team, not at full strength, only able to field 7 players, was outplayed by the Red Comets throughout the game. Abby Maceyak scored twice. Sammie Marvin, Corina Armster, Samantha Mendietta, Abby Church all scored for the Red Comets who improved to 3-0. Next game is a make up on Saturday against the Eastchester Crush.

2008 Boys River Sharks

Were victorious against Riverdale. Coach Ed Greenberg and the boys next face Edgemont.

2007 Boys Dutchmen

Suffered their first loss since they began in the fall at the hands of the Eastchester Titans 4-2. The Dutchmen fell behind early and couldn't complete their rally. Scores were made by TS on great feed by JA. BQ powered in the second goal.

2007 Boys Dynamo

Coached by Brad Scheller earned a 1-1 tie against Scarsdale. They next face Mamaronek.

2007 Girls Blaze

Pushed hard, and with a good combination of accurate passing and great teamwork, defeated the New Rochelle Wildfire in a 4-0 finish. Gemma Fante quickly scored the first goal. A second goal was scored again by Gemma with an assist from Gabby Disney. The Wildfire offense hustled and kept pressure on, but Blaze fought back and it was 2-0 at the half. The Wildfire came on strong in the second half with several attempts on goal. The Blaze defense remained strong as the half progressed. With an assist from Sydney Sharkey, Zoey Murphy steered another to the net for the Blaze. The fourth and final goal was once again Gemma Fante, with an assist from Cassie Junge. The Blaze was victorious with a 4-0 finish. Great game by all. The Blaze, coached by John Sutherland and Chris Junge, are showing great progress in their new division. Next Up: The Blaze meet Manhattan Lyon on Sunday at Randall’s Island.

2006 Girls Storm

Coached by Kevin Richardson defeated the Downtown United Soccer Club 2-1 and are currently tied for third place in division 4. The Storm next get the week off before returning to action May 14th against New Rochelle.

2006 Boys Warriors

Lost to FC Somers Red Bulls this week by a score of 5-2. The first half of the game was generally well played by both teams. The Red Bulls opened the scoring, but the Warriors countered to even the score at 1-1 shortly before halftime. In the second half, the Red Bulls asserted themselves and capitalized on several defensive breakdowns to take a 5-1 lead. The Warriors managed to score a second goal, but couldn't put together enough consistent play to close the gap further. Coaches Matt Weidner, Chris Junge and Todd Dorman hope to get the Warriors back on track next week as they take on the RUFC Green Bulldogs.

2006 Boys Firebolts

Coached by Ricardo Gonzalez lost to first place Castlefod 1-4. They next face a tough Scarsdale team with a chance to get back into the win column.

2005 Boys Legends

Playing good team soccer went 2 -0 up on Scarsdale on Sunday, with Nikhil scoring from a Justin knockdown off an Adrian cross and Tito scoring from a Nikhil cross. From there, though Scarsdale improved, the boys lost their defensive shape and let in 3 to lose 3-2 at the end. Increasing resilience will be a focus this week.

2005 Girls Cyclones

Coached by Mike Levine, Nick Tsilibes and Tracey Koch lost 2-0 to the Rivertowns Wildcats in a very competitive game. The game was scoreless at half and the Rivertowns Wildcats scored 2 goals in the last 20 minutes. The Cyclones next play on Sunday against the Pleasantville Warriors

2004 Boys Argentina

Traveled to Mahopac to face an unbeaten team. Argentina took control early with 2 goals in first 3 minutes as well as multiple shots on goal. Final outcome was a physical 6-0 victory. Man of the Match honors went to Peter and Sebastian for their tremendous offensive and defensive play as center back & central holding midfield. Goals from Gabriel and David as well as 2 goals from Alex G. and Dan T. The Goalkeepers Gabriel and David kept another clean sheet. The backline was extremely strong again and allowed only 2 shots on goal the entire match; 7 players rotated spots: Sebastian, Alex, Dan, David. Midfield was key as they passed and won multiple balls: Justin, Lorcan, Brandon, Randall and Alex S. Argentina remains unbeaten and host two tough opponents with winning records the next 2 weeks.

2004 Boys River Titans

Played away Sunday against Port Chester. The U-13 boy Titans never take their undefeated record for granted. Port Chester is currently ranked third in the division and the Titans were ready to play their most competitive game of the season to date. Port Chester revealed themselves to be a challenge from the start. Port Chester was not just more skilled than previous opponents, but certainly far more aggressive. The Titans were being thrown around and despite getting beat up on the field, the Titans played their game. The Titans did not respond to the many unquestionable fouls by reciprocating - they responded by winning! 4-3 Titans! The Titans are ranked # 1 in their division and currently ranked #1 with sportsmanship. The Titans are coached by Scott Burnett and Pepe Monteforte.

2004 Girls Hurricane

Coached by Max Verna tied Riverdale 1-1. The Hurricane find themselves in second place of division 4. They next face Rye and hope to gain ground on first place Harrison.

2003 Girls Strikers

Won on the road in Pelhem 2-0 in a confident manner. They now find themselves in third place in division 4. The Strikers return home at WI at 12:00 against the Quetzalitos Pink Panthers.

2002 Girls Mustangs

Were slowed down by long grass, missed shots, and a physical team and earned the tie instead of the win against Somers 1-1. The Mustangs’ lone goal was a beauty. Britany Alban crossed the ball 30 yards from right to left with Isabella Chambers setting a volley to the middle that was finished by Arianna Vizcaino. So far Arianna has scored all the Mustang goals in the spring. The Mustangs find themselves in 5th place in the top division and next face a tough John Jay squad on the road. The ladies will need to improve their shooting if they hope to climb in the standings.

2002 Boys Los Gauchos

Won on a very tough match away at Scarsdale. Held to a season-low 285 completed passes by a team that defends extremely well in a small playing pitch. Trailing 3-1 with 17 mins remaining Los Gauchos scored 4 goals in 12 minutes to seal the win. Quality strikes from Franklin [3], Alex & Victor. Man of the Match Paul (1 assist)and Mateo (3 assists) dominated the midfield. Jhonatan, Billy, David and Kevin held a strong backline. Los Gauchos remain undefeated and in first place.

2001 Boys Tornados

Climbed into the top half of JV division 2 with a 3-2 win over New Rochelle. They next face first place-undefeated Ossining.
