Sleepy Hollow Police Make Two Special Promotions
One for a man, and one for a man's best friend.
The Village Board of Trustees approved two special promotions yesterday.
Sleepy Hollow officer Anthony Bueti was promoted to the rank of Sergeant, along with his K-9 partner, Brom.
The two have been an important part of the Sleepy Hollow K-9 unit since they joined forces in 2005. (We highlighted the K-9 unit in a previous article you can view here.)

Brom was one of two K-9s on the Sleepy Hollow Police Department; the other, Gunner, remains in service under the care of officer Vince Lombardi.
In the course of duty, and with the aid of Bueti, Brom tracked weapons and suspects, and also discovered numerous stashes of narcotics. In 2006, he also placed third out of 50 K-9s in a regional skills test.
Bueti has been with the department since 2002, after a stint in the New York City police force. With his promotion, he gives up his position in the K-9 division.

The deal is part of a previously arranged collective bargaining agreement – Brom will go out of service with the promotion of Bueti, Bueti in turn paid $1 to the village to purchase Brom, who will remain in his care for the remainder of his life.
The promotions, and Brom's retirement, go into effect on May 3.
"I'm sure he'll get pretty antsy staying at home," Sleepy Hollow Police Chief John Kapica said of Brom.
