Sleepy Hollow Police Officer Booked in Tarrytown
An officer got into a verbal argument with a woman who claims she was later struck by the off-duty officer.
A Sleepy Hollow police officer was detained and issued a summons Wednesday for allegedly harassing another individual in the Village of Tarrytown.
Sleepy Hollow Police Officer Wendy Brand turned herself in at Tarrytown Police Headquarters on July 14 and was subsequently charged with harassment.
"She turned herself in. She was charged with a violation, which is not a crime," said Tarrytown Police Lt. William Herguth. "She was released on an appearance ticket."

It is alleged that Brand struck another woman in the face while she was off duty.
The incident occurred July 13 at 3:03 p.m. The complainant reported there had been an argument between the herself and Brand at the Washington Irving School's summer day camp. The complainant then alleges Brand hit her.

The complainant filed a report with the Tarrytown police and Brand complied and came into police headquarters the following day to address the matter.
Brand will be in Village Justice Court on July 28.
