Irvington held onto an 8 – 5 lead heading into the fourth quarter. While Sophomore Goal-Keeper, Alex Laub and the defense held Irvington scoreless in the final quarter, the Horsemen rally, led by LJ Garrant’s two late goals, would fall short for the 8 – 7 loss.
Ben Parens and Kevin Sullivan each scored two goals as well, while Jack Centra rounded out the scoring with one goal. Steven Bencosme and Kevin Sullivan each had one assist.
Sleepy Girls Lax-Varsity
On Monday the 2nd of April, the Lady Horsemen experienced their second loss of the season. Sleepy played against the Edgemont Panthers. The final score was 9-20. It appeared in the first part of the second half that the ladies were orchestrating a comeback, led by senior Annelise Birrittella.
Unfortunately for Sleepy the Panthers were able to maintain control of the ball, which allowed them the ability to run out the clock. This was not the outcome Sleepy had been anticipating. Nevertheless, the ladies’ spirits remain high. Their next game is away on Tuesday, April 17th, against New Rochelle.
Sleepy Girls Lax-JV
On Monday, April 2nd, the girls’ jv lacrosse team lost 11-4 to Eastchester. Eastchester came out fired up, but as soon as the Horsemen got into a groove, things started opening up for them.
Goalie Marissa Fortugno had eight saves behind a tenacious effort by the defense. The Horsemen won in draw controls, led by Julia Komorowski. Sleepy Hollow’s goals were scored by, Sonya Smith (2), Anja Cabrera, and Nina Sousa.
The team did a great job, showing aggression and determination throughout the game. The Horsemen will face New Rochelle on April 17th at 6:00 p.m.
