Support Middle School's Modified Sports Program by Golfing

As is the situation with so many great programs our community has to offer, citizen support is necessary. The Modified Sports Program of , affected by budget cuts, is holding their second annual golf outing fundraiser on Monday.

It's not too late, said Amy Bender, event organizer and mother to a 8^th grade modified sports lacrosse player, to buy tickets either to golf and dine or just dine that day.

On Monday, May 7, registration and the driving range opens at 11 a.m. at the in Ardsley-on-Hudson; noon is the shotgun start. The $200 pricetag to golf includes lunch on the course and an outdoor buffet dinner to follow at Beekman's . Those who want to just partake of the dinner buffet can purchase a $50 ticket.

Bender notes that the fundraiser is doing well so far, with many returning golfers from last year, including employees of J.P. Doyle's who will play with two foursomes.

“All of the proceeds we make go to modified sports,” Bender said, a program for sixth, seventh and eight graders that feeds into the high school's junior varsity and varsity sports teams. The teams include basketball, baseball, lacrosse, golf, field hockey, “and benefits a lot of kids throughout the community.”

“It should be a great day,” said Bender.
