Suspicious Incident Involving Child Serves as Reminder to Sleepy Hollow Parents

"Stranger danger" rules should be reinforced to keep children safe.

SLEEPY HOLLOW, NY - The Village of Sleepy Hollow sent out information received from the Pleasantville School District about a suspicious incident that occurred in Pleasantville involving a 12-year-old girl.

A suspect has been identified who neither lives nor works in Westchester County, but, according to the village, may have visited Pleasantville in the past.

Pleasantville police are trying to find out how often the suspect comes to the area.

Anyone who may have information about a black Cadillad GTS in or around Pleasantville should call Detective Shawn Lyon of the Pleasantville Police Department at 914-769-1500 or the Sleepy Hollow Police Department at 914-631-0800.

This incident serves as a reminder that parents should continue to reinforce the “Stranger Danger” rules with their children. All residents/parents/guardians are encouraged to teach their children that they should:

  • Never interact with people they do not know.
  • Be aware of their surroundings. Be on the lookout for unusual people, vehicles or
  • activity in the area.
  • Make noise and run away if they are approached
  • Develop and trust their instincts
