Tarrytown Author Bret Bucci Releases New Book, 'Flightless Bird'

Tarrytown resident and new author Bret Bucci is publishing her first book in a three-part fiction series, titled “Flightless Bird,” a different kind of love story that goes beyond Heaven and Hell.

Geared toward ages 14-26, “Flightless Bird” is the first in a three-part fiction series, in which desperate protagonist Sage Barnaby would do anything to save her ill sister, entering into a dark and twisted existence, only to be torn farther apart. In her last chance for redemption, it’s up to Barnaby and her fallen guardian angel to journey further into darkness in order to save her sister, and her own soul.

Sage Barnaby and her guardian angel face a series of challenges that test their loyalty and their morality, and together, they come to discover that the path they find themselves on will decide more than Sage’s fate alone.

“I started to get excited about writing when I was fourteen, and I’ve grown up surrounded by so many literary heroes who’ve never failed to inspire me— Anne Rice, Neil Gaiman, Stephen King— they’ve helped me realize that creating something from nothing is the closet to magic I’ll ever get.
