Retiring Teacher Tom Mormile: 'Decide to Be All In'
It's a larger than usual class of retiring faculty this year; one by one Patch will post their stories, in their own words.

From Tom Mormile, Health/Multimedia teacher, :
For the past 34 years I have had the pleasure to work with so many wonderful students, teachers and parents in the Public Schools of the Tarrytowns. I taught Health, Multimedia and coached during my time at and Sleepy Hollow H.S.
I am thankful to have received tremendous support from the Board of Education and administration over the years. Lately, I have been teaching the teenage sons and daughters of the student’s I taught earlier in my career. It has been wonderful to have worked with so many great families.

I will miss the everyday sense of teamwork, creativity and achievement accomplished by working with my students. I have been blessed to have been able to pursue my passion for teaching health and coaching varsity football. For the past twelve years I have been working with my students in creating my latest passion for multimedia. It started as a club making our first Digital Yearbook with student leaders like David Swift. The club grew to something very special.
In 2007, a handful of students and myself, launched www.sleepyhollowhits.com. Within the first month, we received the Adobe site of the Day recognition. This gave us world wide exposure which we still receive at our website. In the fall of 2007, we received Honorable Mention at the Adobe MAX Awards for our Digital Yearbook and Sleepyhollowhits website. Adobe MAX is a professional competition and we came in second, behind NASSA and Homeland Security. One of the best experiences was going to Chicago with student’s Alex Berger and Jessie Ovalles to attend the convention and receive our Honorable Mention Award.

In 2009 the program expanded and we began showing our Digital News in school on a weekly basis. The students have worked hard to produce a quality and funny show that captures the pulse of the Hollow. That year we also expanded to running cablevision TV channel 77 where we show our videos from 7 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. everyday of the week.
In 2010 and 2011 Alex Berger and Richie Doyle won V Awards from MSG Varsity. This year we had five videos nominated for our region which was the most from any school. This year’s multimedia team had so many hard working creative leaders I could not begin to list them.
Yes, I am proud of my students and their accomplishments. I’d like them to learn from this year’s NY Giants. Decide to be All In. Choose to give it your best.
