Bucci stars for Sleepy girls hoops

It's been quite a stretch for girls basketball player Jamie Bucci.

Bucci led the Headless Horsemen to a 56-32 rout against host Lincoln with a game that Magic Johnson would be proud of as she recorded 11 points, 10 steals, nine assists and six rebounds in the Dec. 14 victory.

Bucci then continued to sizzle two days later in Sleepy Hollow's 49-40 triumph against visiting Saunders. Against the Yonkers-based school, she recorded 14 points, seven assists, and five steals.

Sleepy boys lose tough one

The Sleepy Hollow boys basketball squad was in a competitive defensive battle against Nanuet in the opener of the Harry Jefferson Showcase at White Plains High School Dec. 17, losing to its Rockland County opponent 39-37.

Harley Falasca led Sleepy Hollow with 14 points.

Hackley takes second, Seim ties school record

Hackley's wrestling squad took second at the Irvington Duals Dec. 17.

Hackley won four of its five matches, beating Irvington, Port Chester, Pawling and Brewster B. It placed higher than any Section 1 school.

Its only loss came to tournament champion Sayville from Long Island.

Shining again individually was Justin Seim for the Hornets as he tied the school record with 115 wins by defeating Chris Siracusa in the final.

Seim was selected the Champion of Champions as he went 5-0 on the day to up his season mark to 15-0.
