The Sleepy Hollow boys’ junior varsity basketball team opened their season on Monday, December 5th against Hastings at Hastings High School. The boys suffered a hearbreaking loss 55-54 after rallying from a 17 point deficit. The boys showed a lot of heart and determination climbing back into the game. Mike Fortugno led the Horsemen with 16 points and stifling defense down the stretch, giving them a chance to win the game. Daniel Moriarty chipped in with 13 points and rebounded the ball well and Alex Laub had 8 points and also had a major impact defensively.
The Sleepy Hollow boys junior varsity basketball team notched its first win of the season Tuesday, December 6th by defeating Tuckahoe at home. The boys won 46-36 behind a strong defensive effort by the entire team. A well balanced offense led by Mike Fortugno’s 15 points was too strong for Tuckahoe to overcome. Joe Good and Eli Sierra each had 9 points as well as numerous defesnive deflections. Alex Laub continued to dominate the boards and the boys played a great team orientated game. Next up for the boys’ JV is John Jay Cross River Friday evening December 9th, in the Sleepy Hollow Gym.
