Tarrytown OKs 2019-20 Budget

Voters went to the polls Tuesday to decide on school budgets and board members.

TARRYTOWN, NY — Voters in the Tarrytowns school district approved the $79 million budget for the 2019-20 school year. According to unofficial results, the budget was approved 687 to 162.

The budget was 1.39 percent more than the current spending plan and the tax levy increase was 2.44 percent, which was within the state mandated tax cap.

Voters were also asked to approve a bus proposition in an amount not to exceed $182,500 for one 70-passenger school bus and one 20-passenger van. It was approved.

Four candidates were vying for two seats on the board of education. The winners were Kevin Miller and incumbent Jennifer Liddy Green. Also on the ballot were Charles Zekus and Ann Neilsen.
