Three Novelists to Read From Their Latest Work in "Spoken Interludes" Program

Meeting takes place at RiverView in Hastings-on-Hudson on June 1, 2015

Three novelists will read briefly from their recent work and answer questions from the audience at the next Spoken Interludes program to take place on Monday, June 1, 2015, at RiverView in Hastings-on-Hudson. Attendees who have not made reservations can register at the reception desk — the total cost including an Indian buffet dinner is $30. The dinner is catered by the restaurant Chutney Masala.

The authors are Chris Bohjalian, reading from the Light in the Ruins; Marisa de los Santos, reading excerpts from The Precious One; and Lynn Schmeidler who will read from Plural Like the Universe.

The speakers will be introduced by DeLauné Michel, who founded Spoken Interludes in 1996.

Bohjalian, born in White Plains, NY, is the author of Midwives (an Oprah’s Book Club selection), The Sandcastle Girls, The Night Strangers, The Buffalo Soldier, Skeletons at the Feast and Close your Eyes, Hold Hands. He has written 17 books, three of which were made into motion pictures, and his work appears in 30 different languages.

De los Santos, is the author of Connect the Stars, Saving Lucas Biggs, Love Walked In, Belong to Me, and Falling Together. She also wrote a poetry collection called From the Bones Out. She received a degree in English from the University of Virginia, a masters degree from Sarah Lawrence College in Bronxville, NY and a Ph.D from the University of Houston.

Schmeidler is a poet and short story writer.

The meeting’s agenda: (1) buffet dinner, (2) brief readings by the authors with questions-and-answers, and (3) book signings. Dinner buffet service starts at 6 p.m. and ends at 7:30 p.m. when the first author is introduced.

Book signings take place from 8:30 to 9 p.m. Books can be purchased from on-site representatives of The Village Book Store of Pleasantville, NY, and paid for by cash, check or credit card.

The cost for attendees who have not previously registered is $30 payable a the reception desk. Attendees that pay by check at the hall should make the checks out to Chutney Masala.

The RiverView is located at 1 Warburton Ave., Hastings-on-Hudson, NY, www.riverviewcaterers.com. Parking is free and a large parking lot is located directly across the street from the hall entrance.
