Today -celebrate and have fun at Massaro Park in North Elmsford

the annual family day sponsored by the North Elmsford Civic Association features entertainment, a pool, fun, sports, free food

Today the North Elmsford Civic Association will hold their annual Community Reunion and Friends Day at Massaro Park off Payne Street in North Elmsford. The event begins at noon and continues till 9 pm.There will be musical performances from 3D Rhythm of Life, vendors, kids activities and free hamburgers and hotdogs.

The park has an interesting background. Originally a landfill, the site was converted into a park enhancing the community decades ago. The park includes a swimming pool, baseball field, basketball courts, tennis courts, walking path. In recent years -thanks in part to former Asssemblyman Tom Abinanti who secured a $500,000 grant to the town, improvements were made to the park. Lemuel Davis, a member of the Parks & Recreation advisory Committee has organized this event for many years. The park is named for Patsy Massaro who was elected to the Greenburgh Town Board in 1951. He served in the position until 1964 and was instrumental in the planning and construction of the water pumping station and the Police Headquarters.
