TZB Takedown To Use Limited Explosives
No timeframe has been announced for the complete removal of the old bridge.

TARRYTOWN, NY — Explosives will likely be used to help take down what remains of the old Tappan Zee Bridge. The Federal Highway Administration said Thursday that work in January to take the bridge apart will include the limited use of explosives.
The FHWA made the decision after reviewing the plan's environmental impact statement, the Journal News said.
It is not known how long the removal of the old span will take.
